“Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in Tamil Nadu. It is one of nine Indian classical dance forms recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, and expresses South Indian religious themes and spiritual ideas, particularly of Shaivism and in general of Hinduism in karaikudi”
This eight-week beginner course will introduce the enrolled students to the highly acclaimed ancient Indian classical dance form, Bharatnatyam in karaikudi. We teach Bharathanatyam Classes in Karaikudi and this course will educate students about the Bharatnatyam dance form as well as teach them about 10 basic adavus, involving the basic standing postures, hand gestures, and foot movements. The course will culminate with the instructor teaching students how to perform these adavus to a shloka. Students after completing this beginner’s course in Bharatanatyam will walk away confident, having learned the basics adavus of this dance form. Also, they would have gained specific knowhow on the fundamental foot movements, hand gestures, and expressions to be able to perform to a shloka, through the beginner basics medium of Bharatanatyam.
